Ember

Glass, incense stick, clay, acrylic board

Ember depicts the combination of ephemeral sensation and tangible body. Three broken vintage glass medicine bottles overlap eachother and a lighted incense stick is put below them. When the fragrent smoke slowly arises and enters the installation, it is fixed into the shape of medicine bottle; the impalpable smoke becomes “touchable” for a split of seconds, and then fades away from the broken top into nihility. It symbolizes the instant pain exists, how the abstract pain is trapped inside a solide body and the speed it goes in a form of meditation.
